DAFFODIL FESTIVAL & MARTHA’S VINEYARD
APRIL 25 – MAY 1, 2013
Apr 25 – Leaving the Maritimes with our final stop at the duty free shop, before going through customs in Houlton, Me. Stopping for lunch at the Big Stop in Houlton. (On-your-own). The coach will be stopping every couple of hours to have a break. We will overnight in Portland, ME.
Apr 26 – This morning we leave the state of Maine, having lunch in Taunton, MA. This afternoon we will be visiting the Cape Cod Chip Factory, then off for a group dinner before heading to our hotel for the night.
Apr 27 – We start today with a steam boat ride to Nantucket, MA, where will be take part in the 39th Annual Daffodil Flower Show. We will visit the Daffodil Festival Market Place then watch the Antique Car & Motorcycle Show. This afternoon we will be going to Bartlett’s Farm to take part in the Daffodil Flower Show. Finishing the day with a Sunset Steam Boat ride back to Hyannis, MA
Apr 28 – Today we visit Martha’s Vineyard – having a four hour guided tour of the island. We will start our journey in the neighbourhood of the historic Gingerbread Houses in Oak Bluffs, and then travel through the picturesque Seaport of Vineyard Haven. Our navigation takes us on the rural roads of West Tisbury which includes beautiful farms and we'll visit the Field Gallery with its unique, quirky outdoor statues. Then we are off to Chilmark, and you'll see where President Obama has spent his last three summer vacations and visit the fishing port of Menemsha, which has a gorgeous harbour and is famous for its fish markets and beautiful beach. Our drive will take us to the town of Aquinnah, which is home to the famous painted cliffs and Gay Head lighthouse which has an incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean. Ending with are visit in Edgartown which is best known for its sea captain's homes and over looks the island of Chappaquiddick. During our journey through the Martha’s Vineyard we will visit many light houses which were used for the first film of "Jaws".
Apr 29 – Today is a day for you to explore Hyannis on your own. Take a walk along the boardwalk, watch the fishing boats in the harbor, visit the Kennedy Museum, go to the Cape Cod Shopping Mall, visit the first Christmas Tree Shop or take a boat tour. There are many options for you to spend your day.
Apr 30 – Today we head back up the coast with an overnight stay in Maine. Stopping at the Christmas Tree Shop before having dinner together, then off to our hotel for the night.
May 1 – We stop at the Duty Free Shop before heading back to the Maritimes with all our memories of Hyannis, MA, and our new friends.
